Computer Games and the Shock of the New

I have just finished reading Gonzalo Frasca’s article on the JFK reloaded game at watercoolergames.org, and it seems to me that this game is in the same vein as much modern art. Could it be argued that this game seeks controversy as a way of challenging society’s preconceptions in the same kind of way as some artists from the Dadist or surrealists movements? I know I’m sounding a little like a dramatic art critic, but I was thinking of Robert Hughes while I was writing this post (hence the title). Read the rest of this entry »
